J. Sam Sage, DDS

Dr. Sage was born and raised in the coastal town of Ocean Shores, WA.

He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington School of Dentistry and subsequently completed the General Practice Dr. J. Sam Sage, DDS Residency program at the University where he received advanced training in pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, sedation and the management of medically compromised patients.

He graduated from the post-doctorate program at the world-renowned Kois Center in 2017 and currently serves as a mentor to students of the center.

Sage Family Dentistry was established by Dr. Sage in 2009. Dr. Sage is highly skilled in both prosthodontic and surgical rehabilitation of the dentition and loves nothing more than helping patients improve the health, function and appearance of their smiles.

Dr. Sage and his wife, Becky, have three children. When not at the dental chair, Dr. Sage enjoys snowboarding, playing golf, spending time with his family and coaching his kids’ sports teams.


Lauren Rainey, DDS

Dr. Lauren Yasuda Rainey is a graduate of the University of the Pacific, Arthur A Dugoni School of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

At Tufts she became skilled in managing dental emergencies in the hospital emergency department and working with medically complex patients. In addition to owning and operating her own clinical practice in the Bay Area for nearly seven years, Dr. Rainey was on the faculty at her alma mater in the Department of Reconstructive Dental Sciences and the Department of Dental Practice. She is currently on the education team at Bioclear Matrix Systems and is a speakers bureau member of Catapult Education.

In her free time, you can find her outdoors with her family or whipping up a cake. Dr. Rainey is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Mommy Dentists in Business and has completed her MasterTrack certification with Bioclear Matrix.


Brian Fong, DDS

A 2007 University of Washington Dental School graduate, Dr. Brian Fong has since been practicing dentistry in San Francisco, Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellevue. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the King County Dental Society.

A Pacific Northwest native, Dr. Fong was born in Montana and grew up in Spokane. He completed his undergraduate degree at Western Washington University, receiving a B.S. in Cellular Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology.

Dr. Fong and his wife Erin have 3 young kids that are a major focus for their life and free time. His current favorite past times are golf, tennis, and coaching his kids various activities.


Tom Carns, DDS

Dr. Carns grew up in Longview, graduating from Mark Morris High School. After 3 1/2 years at WSU he was accepted to UW School of Dentistry, graduating in 1974. His years of skiing, golfing, and sidecar racing are behind him now.

He might still be a fisherman. He still skates in-line. His favorite venues are Alki and Muriel Edwards Park.

He’s a committed vegetable gardener. His kids and stepkids are all grown now, and his attention is now being directed toward his four grandchildren, who take up increasingly large chunks of his time. Life is good


Kois Center Mentor

Dr. Sage is proud to have graduated from the Kois Center’s advanced graduate didactic and clinical program. The Kois Center is the only continuing education program that actually conducts and publishes independent research. The courses are constantly being updated on a yearly basis due to evolving scientific evidence, and they also use the most current technology available in order to elevate the teaching process. Simply put, this excellent program wants to help dentists reach truly extraordinary levels of dental understanding and application.

Having attended the Kois Center’s program, Dr. Sage has proven just how serious of a commitment he has made to his dental craft, and he looks forward to sharing the benefits of his education with you!
