Preparing for Your Personalized Tooth Replacement Plan

Before beginning the dental implant tooth replacement process, we’ll start by creating a personalized treatment plan and walking you through every step of the process. Every person’s tooth replacement plan is different, but on this page, we’ve outlined the basic process to help you get a better idea of what to expect from your treatment plan. If you’re ready to find out more, call our Northgate, Seattle dental office to schedule an appointment at Sage Family Dentistry to review your tooth replacement options.

Initial Dental Implant Consultation

To get started with your dental implant tooth replacement plan, we’ll schedule a consultation appointment. During this appointment, we’ll examine your smile, capture diagnostic images, and walk you through all of your treatment options. We’ll walk you through every step of your tooth replacement plan, including helping you to plan for each step of the treatment and budget for the complex dental implant restoration.

Dental Implant Surgery

The first phase of dental implant tooth replacement is preparing your smile. This may include removing damaged teeth and placing bone or soft tissue grafts. Once your smile is prepared, we’ll surgically position your dental implants. This treatment is actually quite simple. We make an incision in the gum line. Then, the implant post is positioned into the jawbone. A protective cover is placed over the implant site to allow the implant posts to fuse with the bone and soft tissue, recreating the lost tooth roots.

Dental Implant Osseointegration & Abutment

Osseointegration is the technical term for the process by which your implants will fuse with the gum and bone tissue. This can take anywhere from three to six months, but once the osseointegration process is complete, the implant posts will be fully fused to the supportive structures, mimicking the lost tooth roots. Once this process is complete, we’ll attach abutment posts. These abutments will anchor the replacement tooth to the dental implant posts. We will design your dental crown, bridge, or denture restoration to fit over the abutments where they will be permanently affixed.

Placement of Dental Implant Restorations

The final step of the treatment process is the placement of a custom crafted dental crown, bridge, or denture. Designed to affix to your abutment posts, these restorations will blend seamlessly into your smile line, recreating your damaged smile. Once in place, your dental implant supported restoration will last for two decades or longer with proper care, giving you the healthy, functional smile you need to consume a nutritious diet, speak clearly, and smile with total confidence.
