Digital X-rays are quickly becoming commonplace in most dental offices, and it’s not hard to understand why. The traditional film version came with several downsides, including tedious darkroom development, the use of hazardous chemicals, and potentially harmful radiation exposure. Today, our digital system simplifies the development process down to just a few seconds, and we can even magnify and color-code the X-rays for the sake of our patients. Better yet, any radiation is dramatically reduced by up to 80%, which means they’re much safer for the whole family.
CT / Cone Beam Scanner
Although digital X-rays are invaluable tools for dental diagnoses, their view can be somewhat limited in certain cases. When Dr. Sage is planning something advanced like surgical implant placement, we want to feel 100% confident about our approach – that’s why we also use a state-of-the-art Cone Beam Scanner. This technology captures panoramic, three-dimensional renderings of our patient’s smile, jaw, and related facial structures. We can even view small details like the locations of certain nerves. This way, we can maximize success for your procedure.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Our patients may know nitrous oxide by a sillier name – laughing gas! This mild form of sedation is perfect for patients who get a little anxious when they have an upcoming dentist’s appointment. You’ll breathe in the gas through a mask that fits over the nose and stays in place throughout the entire treatment process. Within a few minutes of exposure, you should feel lighter, happier, and much more relaxed. Nitrous oxide is safe for both children and adults alike, and the sedative effects wear off quickly enough that most patients will be able to return to their routines right away.
Oral Conscious Sedation
If you need a stronger type of sedation before undergoing dental treatment, our team understands. That’s why we also offer oral conscious sedation here in Seattle as part of our promise to help patients have truly comfortable appointments. We’ll simply prescribe you a medication that should be taken at a certain time before your visit. While you’ll still be technically awake and able to respond to requests throughout the process, most patients don’t even remember much of anything about the experience once it’s over.
Keep in mind that when choosing oral conscious sedation, you will need to arrange for someone to drive you to and from our location.
